Given the recent ease in restrictions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s time that life got back to normal. By normal, we mean focusing on personal health goals, getting back into shape, and trying to eat better than we did in the last two years.

If these goals align with what you aim to achieve in 2022 and beyond, the good news is that the latest Apple Watch Series 7 can help you with that journey.

It is the perfect companion and fitness partner to keep you motivated, track your health, workouts, and if you prefer, your monthly cycle.

Holistic health

The Health app is the basis of where you need to get started once you link an Apple Watch Series 7 to an iPhone. You input your basic information like gender, birth date and weight before you get feedback on your health for your age group. It records important information like heart rate, blood oxygen, VO2 max, hearing, sleep, etc, and lets you tend to your mental well-being. It performs ECGs if you need to keep track of your heart and send that information to your doctor. There are also optional reminders to wash your hands in the recommended time frame. The Health app works with other gadgets that you may want to link to, which displays results in one interface.

Calories in, calories out

Whether your goal is to shift weight, bulk or maintain, it helps knowing how many calories you burn a day, to get into either a calorie surplus or deficit. The default Activity app on the Apple Watch shows you how many calories you burn daily, which can be used to determine what your goals should be on an eating plan. It is also suitable to share with your nutritionist or dietician. On the flip side, you can use calorie counting apps like Fat Secret or MyFitnessPal to record your daily intake. Fat Secret is linked to most supermarkets like Woolworths, Checkers, etc. to easily add what you’re eating. It plugs into the Health app, which displays calories burned and consumed under one app in a graph.

Witness the fitness

There are numerous workout apps to choose from, in fact you will be spoilt for choice, but Apple’s own free Workout app is a good place to start. It supports various activities like core training, swimming, dancing, hiking, yoga, pilates, tai chi, and many more. You can simply create a shortcut for the Workout app for your Apple Watch face and record a workout in no time. Over time, you can see how much better you get at doing the same activity and use it to up your game. Recorded workouts can be viewed in the Activity app with detailed stats, including heart rate, calories, elevation gain, GPS info, etc.

Track your cycle

No matter what your journey in life entails, the Apple Watch Series 7 goes a step further by offering an easy way to track your menstrual cycle. It can be viewed in the Health app on iPhone and the Cycle Tracking app on the watch. Once you set up your dates, you will receive notifications on when your next period or fertile window will be. They appear visually in graphs that is easy to understand with the option to add other info like basal body temperatures, spotting, symptoms, etc.
