October 24 marks International Day of Climate Action, the most widespread day of environmental rallies in the planet’s history.
We told you about the kiddies’ Consider Us green initiative, now we have a campaign for YOU to support and take part in.
Some background:
Two years ago, after climatologists observed rapid ice melt in the Arctic, they issued a series of studies showing that the planet faced both human and natural disaster if atmospheric concentrations of CO2 remained above 350 parts per million.
Everyone who is anyone knows that embracing this goal is necessary for stabilising the planet and preventing complete disaster, but the final task is getting our leaders to pay attention and craft policies that will put the world on track to get to 350.
Why?
This Saturday, October 24, people all over the world plan to highlight the number 350 for a global petition that will hopefully grab the attention of world leaders at the crucial UN Climate Negotiations taking place later this year.
Cape Town strips down:
Because nothing garners more interest than nude bodies, organisers in Cape Town have planned a massive naked streak where participants will march down Beach Road, Mouille Point, bearing nothing but their frozen bum cheeks and humanitarian smiles.
Show your support for the fight against climate change by stripping down and taking part or by spreading the word. Want to know a secret? No one’s saying you can’t stand and watch so please, don’t let your wariness keep you away.
