The American phenomenon of Black Friday took off a few years ago in South Africa and ever since retailers have used the Black Friday express to clear out their stock. For shoppers, it's a time to stock up on essentials ahead of Christmas.

Black Friday falls on the 26 November this year and more people are expected to shop online and in stores providing that lockdown regulations are followed.

Last year, we asked some of our readers about how the prepare for the sales, but only 8% of the respondents said they save, research and plan for the big sale day.

15% of the respondents wait and see for what looks like a good deal on the day, while most respondents (77%) shared that they had no interest in spending more money.

It would be interesting to find out what will happen this year now that lockdown regulations have eased a little and more and more people are getting vaccinated.

If you are looking for a bargain this year, we got you!

News24 compiled information from different local retailers on a few baby essentials for parents who want to stock up.
