Thierry Mugler's imagination as a couturier, perfumer and image-maker will remain unforgettable

Manfred Thierry Mugler has died at the age of 73. His agent confirmed that the French fashion icon died from natural causes.

On Mugler's Instagram account, the fashion house described him as a visionary whose "imagination as a couturier, perfumer and image-maker empowered people around the world to be bolder and dream bigger every day."

He has created flamboyant showstoppers for stars such as Diana Ross, Naomi Campbell, Imaan Bowie and George Michael since the 80s.

His groundbreaking designs were worn by celebrities including Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West and Cardi B.

Although Mugler retired in the early 2000s, his vintage designs continued to appear at award ceremonies and in video clips in recent years, worn by musicians such as Katy Perry, Rihanna and Cardi B.
