Ruby Rose has deleted her Twitter account after receiving backlash for being appointed a role as Batwoman. According to PinkNews.com, the actress announced that she would be playing the role of the lesbian superhero for the television series. Although she is proud and honoured by the opportunity, the negative responses on Twitter have pushed her to delete her account.
In the midst of the hashtag, #RecastBatwoman, some people have gone as far as to say that Ruby is "not gay enough" for the role. According to HuffPost, Ruby tweeted the following before deleting her account:
“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be Batwoman’ come from — has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys.”

It's not clear how gay a person needs to be to be considered 'gay enough', but several people argue that casting Ashley Platz would be better considering that she's a Jewish lesbian woman, just like the Batwoman character.
You can dislike Ruby Rose for whatever reason, but what we’re not gonna do is say she somehow isn’t “gay enough” to play a lesbian character, okay folks?

Various actors and actresses have received negative remarks about being casted for particular roles, and the debates range from concerns about race to gender. As much as it is okay for fans to voice their concerns and preferences, it should never be with the intention to belittle or disregard an actress (and their orientation) to the point that they retreat from the dialogue about representation.
