  • Candice Bester from Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande and her husband recently opened a new restaurant.
  • The restaurant, De Vier, had its grand opening on Thursday.
  • Other housewives from the show who attended included Amy Kleinhans, Karen Schwendtke and Mariska Thorpe.

Candice Bester from Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande (RHOWL) and her husband Werner opened their new restaurant in Stellenbosch on Thursday. The restaurant's name is De Vier, and it opened on 31 August.

Her co-stars Amy Kleinhans, Karen Schwendtke and Mariska Thorpe came out to support her at the grand opening.

"We have lived the majority of our married life with a dream of having a restaurant of our own," read the restaurant menu's first page. "Our concept was based on only having four dishes, consisting of beef, chicken, seafood and vegan dishes."

"I am very excited about tonight. We have been open, but this is the formal-official opening. I'm excited for people to taste the food," Bester said on the night.

The doors were opened for two weeks as a soft launch, just to test everything out, she shared. She also expressed some concern over the rainy and cloudy weather of the day.

Bester added that RHOWL gave her the platform to market the restaurant, which she was grateful for. "I love doing the show, and I realised that the platform the show gave me was a platform to showcase this incredible restaurant to the world."

On the process of setting up the restaurant, she said: "It's never smooth when setting up a restaurant, there's always bumps in the road, but you take it one day at a time and figure it out. It's been a big learning curve."

On Bester opening up her restaurant, Amy Kleinhans said: "Tonight I cannot believe that I am celebrating De Vier with Candice. I am so excited for her, because we've come a long way; we've journeyed with her. We've heard the stresses, restraints and demands on an individual opening up a new business."

Karen Schwendtke said, "I'm so proud and glad for my friend and cast member. I wish her all but the best." Schwendtke added that she felt like the show had brought them all closer together.

Mariska Thorpe said, "I am so excited for Candice and her husband Werner. I think it's so amazing to have sat here when this was absolutely nothing and to have listened to her vision and see it become a reality."

"Me and Candice are both people who won't just easily open up to new friends...but from day one, we were on the same wavelength in terms of aspirations and what we want to achieve."

Natasha van der Merwe, an actor on Suidooster who was at the opening, said, "I feel amazing tonight because I'm a very proud friend and wish all the success in the world to [Bester] and Werner."

"I've walked a long path with Candice; we studied together. We're cut from the same cloth. She's an unbelievable person, I'm really proud of her tonight," Van Der Merwe added.
