The American singer Miley Cyrus recently started a TikTok series, opening up about parts of her life and telling untold stories. The series is inspired by her new single, Used to Be Young.

In the second video of the series, Cyrus gets emotional while talking about her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Her father had a number one country song the year that she was born.

She went into more detail about her relationship with her father:

"My dad grew up the opposite of me. So I think that's where me and my dad's relationship to fame and success is wildly different. Him feeling loved by a big audience impacted him emotionally more than it ever could me. When he feels special or important, it's like healing a childhood wound, and I've always been made to feel like a star. It makes me emotional."

Through the candid series, she continues to share details about her childhood and early career, including her time as a cheerleader:

"Travelling as a cheerleader really set me up for touring. Like the show or competition may only be a day - and that's what people don't really understand about touring is that the show is only 90 minutes, but that's your life."

"If you're performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest."

Cyrus has posted seven parts of the Used to Be Young series so far.

The singer announced the series on Saturday through Instagram.

On Instagram, Cyrus wrote:

"Sometimes it feels like my life started when Hannah Montana was born. But before Hannah, there was Miley. My fantasy was to light up the world with laughter, music and iconic moments that last beyond my lifetime. Decades later, I continue to fulfil my purpose because of the love provided by my fans."
