After representing the country at last year's Miss Universe finale, Miss South Africa runner-up Bryoni Govender is again gearing up to represent South Africa internationally at the upcoming Miss Supranational pageant. The pageant's 15th staging takes place on Saturday, 6 July, in Nowy Sacz, Poland.

Govender represented the country at Miss Universe after the current Miss South Africa, Natasha Joubert, chose not to participate in international competitions. This decision was influenced by the disappointment and subsequent depression she experienced from the same pageant in 2021, when she missed out on a spot in the top 21.

The Miss Universe 2023 title was claimed by Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua.
