Former Muvhango actor Simphiwe 'Simz' Ngema paid tribute to her late husband, Dumi Masilela, through song on the fifth anniversary of his death this week.
The former Rhythm City actor and professional soccer player was shot and killed in a botched hijacking in Tembisa in 2017. Ngema and Masilela tied the knot in an intimate traditional wedding earlier that year.
In the heartfelt song, Ngema sings about an angel on earth that she used to know, who made love come true. She also sings about how her love brought her happiness, adding that she chose him. Ngema's song also features a verse from a male rapper.

In August 2021, City Press reported that the five men accused of killing Masilela were convicted and sentenced to life and a further 175 years imprisonment, collectively. The group of men faced charges which included murder, kidnapping, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, theft, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and attempted robbery.
