Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are reportedly headed for divorce 14 months after the pair tied the knot in a lavish ceremony.
E News reports that Asghari filed paperwork to be legally separate from Spears on 16 August.
According to TMZ, which broke the story, Asghari cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. The publication further reports that he is asking for spousal support and attorney's fees; however, the filing stated he "has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party."
The couple met in 2016 when they co-starred in a music video for her single Slumber Party. In September 2021, they announced their engagement via Instagram.
In November of that year, the Stronger singer was released from a legal conservatorship that had controlled her personal life and finances for 13 years. During court proceedings, she said she longed to marry and start a new family without restrictions.
Spears announced in April 2021 that she and Asghari were expecting a baby. A month later, the singer said she had suffered a miscarriage.
In June 2022, the couple tied the knot at Spears' luxurious home near Los Angeles.

In March, rumours started circulating that the pair's marriage was on the rocks; however, according to People, a rep for Asghari's dispelled them at the time.
Per People, a representative for Asghari declined to comment on the latest divorce news, while Spears' representatives have not responded to a request for comment.
While Spears hasn't yet addressed the divorce reports, she shared her plans to buy a horse on Instagram. Alongside a photo of herself astride a horse, she wrote: "Buying a horse soon! So many options it's kinda hard! A horse called Sophie, and another called Roar? I can't make up my mind! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on? Either way, I think I found my sweet spot with Roar."
