Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was announced as Marvel's first Latino superhero at CinemaCon on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old will star in El Muerto, set to be released in January 2024.

According to Variety, El Muerto, known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, is a wrestler whose powers are handed by ancestry in the form of a mask.

"To bring El Muerto to life is just incredible, so exciting," said Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio per Variety.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of Oscar-winning 2018 animation Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, previewed unfinished footage from the first 15 minutes of their sequel Across the Spider-Verse, at the showcase reports AFP.

It featured various male and female Spidey heroes hopping between dimensions - and will be followed by another animated sequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, in 2024.

A Venom sequel was also announced.
