Gabriel Temudzani exits Muvhango: 'The Chief of Thathe shall live forever'

  • Gabriel Temudzani says his iconic character as Chief Azwindini Mukwevho on Muvhango will live on forever as viewers prepare to bid him farewell in Monday night's episode.
  • After being mercilessly gunned down by his cousin, Tenda Mudau, in Friday's episode, the chief will be set alight in the upcoming episode.
  • Speaking about his exit from the long-running weeknight drama, Temudzani said: "I had a great time portraying this heroic character."

As viewers of SABC 2 drama Muvhango gear up to bid farewell to Chief Azwindini Gandamipfa Mukwevho on Monday night, Gabriel Temudzani says his character will live on forever.

In Monday's episode, Chief Azwindini will be set alight by Tenda Mudau (played by Nathaniel Ramabulana), who is avenging himself against those that put him in jail. In Friday's episode, viewers were left reeling with emotion after they saw the chief being gunned down by Mudau.

"Life is a collective, and it's well lived when it's shared," he said in a press statement. "The Chief of Thathe shall live forever."

Per the statement, the chief's sudden death will not only leave the Mukwevho clan in shock and mourning, but it will also bring a wave of family drama expected to lead to chaos in the royal house.

"The royal family will now be faced with the daunting task of navigating the aftermath of this tragedy, which is sure to be a challenging and emotional process," the statement reads.

Per the royal family customs, the iconic Chief of Thathe will be laid to rest later in the month.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Temudzani said he enjoyed bringing the character to life and thanked Muvhango and SABC for the opportunity they gave him.

"I had a great time portraying this heroic character," he wrote. "Thanks for the opportunity @muvhangosa, @sabc2 you[r] platform is much appreciated. @soapiebestscenes, thanks for your support over the years. Nndaa!!"
