  • Netflix has released the highly anticipated trailer for Bridgerton season 3.
  • The trailer playfully teases the budding romance between Nicola Coughlan's Penelope and Luke Newton's Colin, blossoming from friendship to love.
  • Season 3, split into two parts, debuts 13 May and 13 June.

Dearest gentle reader, it's been 748 days since season 2 of Netflix's Regency-era drama premiered.

Now, Netflix has finally released the trailer for the highly anticipated third season of Bridgerton.

The 2-minute clip teases the steamy, friends-to-lovers romantic beginnings of Nicola Coughlan's Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton's Colin Bridgerton.

Penelope has decided to move on from her feelings for Colin Bridgerton following his negative comments about her previously. She's now looking for a husband who will offer her the freedom to maintain her secret identity as Lady Whistledown while also allowing her to distance herself from her family.

"But lacking in confidence, Penelope's attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he's disheartened to realise that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder," reads the official synopsis.

"Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope's growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret."
