  • Finding time for sex when you have kids in the house can be challenging.
  • John Legend says to get "hot" sex, they lock the doors.
  • Dr Divan Young says intimacy in a relationship and marriage deserves attention.

John Legend has learned to "lock the door" to keep his and Chrissy Teigen's "sex life alive". The 'All of Me' hitmaker was speaking to Alex Cooper on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast when he shared his secret to "hot sex".

"Lock the door if you have kids."

John and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have had to take extra precautions to have a "good time" because if they don't, their kids will likely interrupt. They have three kids, Luna, Miles and Esti. Their youngest was born in January 2023.

"Our kids have a way of finding their way into our room, so if we ever want to have a good time, we gotta lock the door."

Meanwhile, the 44-year-old singer admitted that Chrissy's sense of humour is her "hottest" quality.

He gushed: "It's probably obvious, but she makes me laugh all of the time, and I think that just changes your whole world when you have somebody around you that makes you laugh.

"Even when you go through the worst things … when [your partner] has a sense of humour, it just makes life better, it really does."

Parents often have to devise creative ways to get the kids distracted or asleep at a certain time, so they have the much-needed intimate time in the relationship.

Relationship expert Dr Divan Young shared some advice on Fox26"When you get to be a parent, one of the things you can't lose sight of is how you ended up being a parent is that you were in a relationship that got your attention, that you made time for and that you set aside moments so you could maintain intimacy and remain connected."

Relationships and marriages have ended due to the lack of intimacy.

"When you take that out, not only are you risking those children being in a single-parent home, but the worst thing is you are taking yourself out of the picture."

Common sense is important, Dr Divan said. "Firstly, let's make sure we teach children early about boundaries. If the door is closed, you need to teach them to please knock."
