- Nyeleti Mabasa posted a selfie on Twitter and the comments that followed were distasteful.
- She was trolled and told that her wig, make-up and looks were ugly.
- But hairstylist Khomotso Mmapheto offered to install her wig and do her make-up for free.
A young woman, Nyeleti Mabasa, decided to take a selfie and post it on Twitter. What followed was distasteful.
Internet trolls taunted her for not having a lace wig up to their standards. She was called names all because she posted a selfie of herself. Even though her wig and looks were mocked, Nyeleti didn't let that get to her. Nyeleti says she doesn't get demoralised and offended easily. She tells us about how the ordeal made her feel. Her post had almost a million impressions.

"I don't get demoralised or offended so easily. When I first saw the comments, it was after I received a call from a friend asking how I was coping after those nasty comments. I laughed at how mean people can sometimes be," she says.
This story ended beautifully when hairstylist Khomotso Mmapheto in Midrand invited to install Nyeleti's hair for free.

"When I saw her comment, we arranged to meet on the same day. When I got there, she welcomed me as if we were friends or had previously met. I felt so comfortable around her. She welcomed me in such a way that she even offered me hot water to bath so I could prepare for work [night shift], and she did make-up for me as well for free."

Social media has made us believe that we all need to aspire to look like whatever is on trend and whoever is famous.
"Everyone is unique in their way. No one should let anyone make them feel small, and you are the person you think you are in your world, and you are in control of your own life, so don't let the world tell you otherwise."
Khomotso spread the kindness the world desperately needs.
"I only met her a few hours, but already I learned a lot from her. Social media and its trolls can't shake a powerful and brave woman. The experience taught me that God could change someone's life within a minute, and never to look down on others," Nyeleti says.
