  • A maid of honour asked Reddit users if she was wrong for going to her friend's bridal shower with white nails.
  • She was told to remove her stick on nails or go home, and she decided to leave.
  • The bride and maid of honour have been friends for 15 years.

A woman took to Reddit to talk about her friend who kicked her out of her bridal shower because she had white nails.

She shared that they had been best friends with the bride for 15 years and had never fought.

The bride asked her to be her maid of honour immediately after getting engaged.

"She has been planning a wedding for close to two years now, and she asked me to be her maid of honour as soon as she got engaged. I was ecstatic to be a part of this happy time for her, but that excitement has slowly started dying down because of how she's been treating me the last few months."

"My final straw with her happened over this weekend during her bridal shower," the upset maid of honour wrote.

She arrived early to perform her maid of honour duties and set up games, food, and decorations. She wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly.

"Everything looked beautiful, and when my best friend got there, she looked thrilled. Until she saw my white nails [stick on nails]."

The bride pulled her aside for a private chat when they were ready for some bridal games.

"I assumed it would be about how the day was going, but what she said honestly just hurt my feelings. She told me she wanted me to either rip off my nails or go home because she felt like the white nails were a subtle dig at her or a way for me to take attention off her as white is 100% reserved for the bride."

The maid of honour refused to take them off her white stick on nails and felt the situation was ridiculous.

"It wasn't like I was wearing a white dress or anything to take the attention from her. She looked stunned; then she started tearing up and saying I was trying to ruin the day for her."

"Her mom came over to ask what was wrong, and I tried to explain it was just a misunderstanding, but my friend told me to leave because I wasn't respecting her wishes as the bride," she explained.

After leaving, she received messages that she should've just removed the nails. The groom told her to apologise to the bride so the wedding could go smoothly.

"I'm just really confused about how this all happened. It's making me question my friendship with her; my boyfriend said she's acting jealous, and I didn't do anything to warrant her reaction."

Fellow Reddit users sided with the woman, with the majority saying that the bride was wrong.

One commented: "Nails? Really? If her granny comes to the wedding, is she going to have to cover up her white hair? This girl sounds utterly exhausting. You didn't show up in a bridal gown, and it wasn't even the wedding. I'm not familiar with any rule that says you can't wear a white dress to a bridal shower, much less white nails! Is white forbidden in her presence from the day of her engagement until after the honeymoon? Ridiculous."

"She's being ridiculous and over the top and has likely spent the last 15 years walking all over you. You are not obligated to remain friends with someone because you've known them since childhood, and for your own sanity, I would use this as the leaving point," commented another.
