Janice Stroud tells W24 that they first met in primary school and proceeded to the same high school, in the UK, where they were in the same class from age 11 to 16.

"He always fancied me and used to follow me home from school, but I never knew. I was with another boy at the time, so I never really gave him a thought," says Janice.

After finishing high school, both at the age of 16, they went their separate ways. "We married the wrong people, and we got divorced," she says. Only when an old school friend from America went back to England to arrange a school reunion," the newly wed says.

"That night was 50 years after leaving school and never seeing each other yet living in the same area all those years."

It is as though it was an opportunity he had been waiting for all these years. "When he knew I would be going to the reunion, he traced me through the phone book and offered me a lift, and as soon as we saw each other, the sparks flew, we sat and caught up with the 50 years reminiscing," says Janice.

After the reunion, Ian drove Janice home, and the magical night was sealed with an unforgettable kiss. "I knew then I would marry him, and in two months, we moved in together," a love-struck Janice says.  "I have met a wonderful man who is kind, loving, and generous, we both gave health issues, but it only brings us closer, having to help each other. We have spent lots of time on holidays abroad enjoying time together."

Due to Covid, their wedding was delayed, but they finally tied the knot in August.

Janice says they are very intentional about how they spend time with each other. Janice says, "We want to cram as much as possible into our remaining years. And my advice to those looking for love; never give up on love. There is someone out there for everyone. When you do find them, be kind to each other."
