Event planner and interior designer Brittany Sharp gives an insight on some of the latest bridal trends and how normal wedding traditions are being broken. She says these are influenced by both the two year pandemic and social media.

Brittany was speaking on Good Day Atlanta on Fox News and she shared that the biggest areas that have seen these big changes include wedding entertainment, weekend weddings, destination weddings, a hint of colour on brides and bridesmaids dresses and a little snack surprise for guests.

Wedding Entertainment

Wedding reception entertainment has been placed high on the list by Brittany, she says weddings are more than just the nuptials at an alter therefore brides should try and make it an experience for attendees to remember.

"People are really focused on the entertainment. They are happy to be out of the pandemic, being able to celebrate with family and friends. We're seeing a lot of people focus on huge concerts and bringing celebrity guest to performances," she says.

Weekend weddings

People have been stuck indoors for awhile and Brittany says they want to be able this time for almost four, five days. People are making full fledged weekends.

"That involves coming in town on Thursday, having a welcome party over on a rooftop. Then ending on a Sunday, with a family brunch with family and friends," she says.

Destination weddings

Brittany says destination weddings are for brides who wants a big party but don't like to plan, this way you and your guest can take part in activities that the resort already has for people coming in, in town for a vacation.

Brittany says, "The destination elements is a really big trend right now because it allows people to have these huge parties without the financial cost because you are able to tap in things that are already going on."

Colourful dresses for both brides and bridesmaids

Brides are moving away from the traditional white gowns. "We're seeing people wear black, we're seeing people really tapping into neon colours for their bridesmaids and really creating their own experience. Everybody wants to see what's gonna go viral. People aren't as afraid as they were in the older days," the event planner says.

Food trends

Brittany says brides should look into extending the celebration by including food trucks. Food trucks are really big nowadays.

"You've been at a wedding for three four hours and you've had your sit-down dinner but once the dancing gets off, you feel like having a snack or some fries," she says. This is a nice surprise for your guests after they've invested in the event.
