  • Couples are choosing to go with fast food restaurants instead of catering for their wedding guests.
  • This is a much cheaper option as weddings have become even more expensive after the pandemic.
  • In Indonesia, McDonald's is offering a wedding package of 200 meal options.

Fast food restaurants have always played a role as catering vendors at weddings. We've seen couples feed their wedding guests KFC, as opposed to hiring a catering company to prepare a three-course meal. After all, this does seem like a cheaper alternative. There was also a South African couple who stopped by a McDonalds after saying 'I do'. Now, a McDonald's in Indonesia has officially decided to offer a wedding package.

The fast food restaurant will offer couples and their guests different options from their existing menu. Their new slogan - "Make wedding moments unforgettable" - represents this wedding feast. The new package has been launched only in Jakarta, Indonesia. However, should it succeed, it could be expanded worldwide. The price starts from around R4 400.

The package will have two options which include 100 chicken burgers and 100 boxes of McNuggets or 100 cheeseburgers and 100 chicken fingers. Rizki Haryadi from McDonald's spoke to The Sunsaying, "There are other service options as well, where we can also provide food stalls at additional costs. The wedding package is not for holding a wedding at the McD store but only for food, such as catering."
