  • Three sisters married at the same time last month in their home town, Spartanburg, USA.
  • Darlene, Anna and Lushinda are three of seven siblings with a close bond.
  • They say the day was almost perfect; the only missing part was their father, who died four years ago.

Weddings are expensive, and couples are trying everything to minimise the costs, from cutting out the wedding cake in favour of a dummy cake to doing a 'Just Us' wedding where the only people at the wedding are the bride, groom and officiant.

These sisters decided to test the level of stress when it comes to wedding planning by having three weddings in one day at the same time. They opted for a triple wedding because they got engaged in the same year.

"Our mother was able to be there with us," they added. The triple wedding wasn't as cheap as they imagined, the venue cost $33 000 (about R570 000), and $15 000 for the decorations, but fortunately, the wedding planner was free. The wedding planner, Kimberly Rice, is a friend of the sisters and was also one of their bridesmaids. Rice says she had personal issues of her own during the nuptials.

"I actually missed the cake tasting because my father died," She adds that she was only able to balance her duties by the grace of God. The wedding gave me the opportunity to ease my mind.
