Wayne Brady piques interest in pansexuality after opening up about his sexuality

The comedian and television host spoke to the publication about his long road to self-discovery and how his daughter and ex-wife are showing him acceptance in light of his recent revelation. 

His declaration not only made headlines around the world but also piqued people's interest in pansexuality. 

According to Google Trends data for August 2023, "What is pansexual" was the month's top trending "What is…" after Brady came out. 

He told the publication that he is pansexual, which means he is attracted to people regardless of sex or gender.

He also said that those who don't understand can think of him as "Bisexual — with an open mind."

The article was published on 8 August, and interest in the term peaked on the same day.

Other entertainment trends for the month include Baldur's Gate 3, the top trending search topic worldwide and in the US, and Fyre Festival, which Google calls the "breakout search" for the month. 

Fyre Festival founder Billy Macfarlane announced his intention to see the vision for his infamous failed festival through despite being convicted of wire fraud and serving time in prison. 

AI-generated tattoos 

On the lifestyle front, search results for "AI tattoo generator" reached an all-time high in the US and worldwide. 

According to Google, searches for "cowboy candy recipe" spike every August; however, the term is searched more than ever before in the US. 

Last month's rare blue moon inspired searches for "how to make moon water" and "blue moon rituals," which were the top trending "how to make" and ritual searches, respectively. 

Fitness fanatics were interested in a "calisthenics workout plan", which was the month's top trending "workout" in light of increased interest in calisthenics, a form of strength training consisting of a variety of movements that exercise large muscle groups.

Mocha makeup

There isn't a noticeable golden thread in the month's beauty-related searches, which ranged from topics like "canthal tilt," "strawberry makeup trend," and "mocha makeup trend" to "cowboy copper hair colour" and "cowgirl copper hair colour."

"Villain makeup" and "martini makeup" also topped the search data charts.  

The benefits of different ingredients have remained a popular topic of interest, with mango butter, corn starch, ceramides, algae extract and watercress making up the top five search terms in this category for the month. 

Baggy jeans are back and better than ever

Different jeans styles are characteristic of different fashion eras and the generations that lived through them. As a result, there has been speculation that high-waisted jeans, loved by millennials, would make way for the return of low-rise jeans in line with the revert back to the style of the early 2000s. 

Instead, fashion has gone in the opposite direction, keeping high-waisted jeans in style but swapping the fitted form of the bottom half of the jeans for a more flared aesthetic. 

US search interest in "baggy jeans" surpassed that of "tight jeans" in 2020, which is currently at an all-time high and is evident with the styles favoured by trendy stores. 

Other movie-inspired apparel searches include "blue beetle costume" and “weird Barbie costume," which were the top trending costume searches in the US.
