In June 2020, Rufqah Waggie placed an order on UberEats. Fast-forward about 40 minutes later, her Simply Asia meal had arrived and the delivery guy, Ngoy, was ready to meet her at the door.

"It's you!" he told her. "Do you remember me?"

Ngoy, she realised, was the same man who was once a car guard in a parking lot outside a Virgin Active gym in Cape Town. He randomly decided to walk Rufqah to her car every night, ensuring she was safe.
