Graaff-Reinet's water supply is in a process of being flushed.
This follows the discolouration of water due to low reservoir levels which resulted in poor pressure to areas that still have asbestos pipes.
According to the municipal communication department, reservoir levels have subsequently increased as well as the pressure in the network. This caused debris to loosen and enter the water supply.
Edwardine Abader, communication manager, reminded residents that loadshedding reduces water supply and may contribute towards water interruptions and shortages. "Water carting will be arranged for affected areas."
Abader asked residents to kindly utilise available water resources sparingly.
