The Makhanda High Court convicted Lucas William Rudman (66) the pedophile who engaged in cunnilingus conduct for five counts of trafficking in persons, four counts of rape, and two counts of sexual assault on November 24.

According to Hawks spokesperson, Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, during the period between May 2021 to October 2021, Rudman was exposed on social media as well as through information that was received about him engaged in cunnilingus with minors who were 13 years old at the time.

Mhlakuvana said that he was arrested by the Graaf-Reinet Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit where he appeared at Somerset Magistrate’s Court and was later released on R1 000 bail.

In February 2022, the matter was referred to the Gqeberha Trafficking In Person of Serious Organised Crime Investigation of the Hawks for intensive probing.

“The investigation revealed that in May 2021, Rudman associated himself with young girls aged between 12 and 16 years and conned them to be his friends and lured them into his house in Somerset East,” said Mhlakuvana.

“Further investigation revealed that he constantly invited them to his house, where he enticed them with some gifts, food, money, alcohol, cell phones, and dagga. Thereafter, he molested them while they were intoxicated, and he took advantage of young girls by raping as well as touching them inappropriately."

Mhlakuvana said that Rudman made several court appearances until his conviction on November 24.

The matter has been remanded to January 24 for sentencing.
