Police have opened inquest dockets after two elderly people were killed in a shack fire in Nomzamo, Mlungisi on Saturday, February 4.
According to police spokesperson, Namhla Mdleleni, police were summoned to a scene of a shack engulfed in flames in Mlungisi last night.
"After the fire was extinguished, two bodies of a man, aged 90 and a woman, aged 82, were found in the ambers," said Mdleleni.
The identities of the deceased have been withheld until the formal identification is concluded.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
