Employees from King Sabatha Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality closed Heritage Month by hosting a heritage event with the aim of showing unity.

According to the manager for Employee Health and Wellness at King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Sisanda Majavu, they host this event every year.

She said that this municipality has employed workers who come from different cultures and from different provinces.

“When we are celebrating this event, we ensure that each person shows his or her culture.

“Our aim is to appreciate and show love to each other. Also, by doing this we are building the team spirit as well,” said Majavu.

She said that it was not the first time hosting this event, and that they started with it after the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of showing acceptance of all the employees, and wanting them to return knowing that they are still one body.

“We did not want them to feel isolated, so we decided to start this initiative so that all of them could feel welcome. After we hosted this event, each employee feels that this is his or her home, so they must feel comfortable.”

She said that ever since they started this in 2020, they had seen the change, because it assists a lot as even if there are some of the staff who have conflict, this brings peace among those employees.

Giving a word of motivation, a financial advisor from Sanlam, Ntsikelelo Njilo, said that they had partnered with this municipality, and had come to give support to this event.

“This shows the unity that as the stakeholders we are supporting them. This is beautiful because it is about where we are coming from,” said Njilo.
