Bambelela Mangumnta, a maskandi artist from Goso locality in Mount Ayliff has released a song about her late 22-year-old daughter, Mbalentle Mangumnta who was allegedly murdered in their area on January 15, 2023.
He said he released the song titled Xola, last week. Mangumnta said that the song is aimed at comforting himself from the pain of losing his daughter.
"My daughter was stabbed more than 20 times by an unknown person at Mahashini stop in our area. Her body was seen by a passerby. The pedestrian wrote on a Facebook page about this, and the post was shared on the Goso location Justice for Victim's WhatsApp Group," Mangumnta said.
Mamngunta added that one of the leaders in the area asked men to go to the scene.
"Police were then called and everyone who was there that evening could not identify her. The following day we received the news that there was an unknown body laying in a pool of blood. I went there and could not believe what I saw, even today it is hard for me to forget about that image."
"The song also sends a message to the perpetrator regarding the pain he caused in my family. Even though my daughter is sleeping peacefully I am sure that where the perpetrator is, he does not have peace."
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that police are investigating a case of murder. She confirmed that the victim was stabbed multiple times.
"The task team is following up all information. At this stage no arrests have been made," Naidu said.
