The South African Police Recruitment department in the OR Tambo District are warning applicants who have already applied for a vacancy in the SAPS to be wary of a conman who is taking advantage of their vulnerability.
Police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo, said that it has come to the attention of police that applicants are being telephonically contacted and requested to deposit money with the promise of employment in the SAPS.
He said that the SAPS will never ask for money from applicants whether they are successful or not in their application neither does the SAPS sub-contract with anyone in respect with their recruitment processes.
“Applicants are requested that whenever they receive any calls pertaining to their applications or are suspicious about anyone contacting them, they should personally visit or call the SAPS Human Resource/ Recruitment offices at the PRD Building -10th floor, taking with their South African Identity Document. The contact number for the recruitment offices is 047-5055000 and any changes in the number/s will be communicated,” said Matyolo.
He added that the SAPS is committed to conducting recruitment processes transparently and professionally and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the integrity of these procedures.
