Traditional Leaders from the Eastern Cape, who managed to obtain Certificates in Public Administration Qs Level 5 at Nkqubela Community Developers in East London, described the knowledge they received as the best tool of their lives.

One of the graduates, Minenkulu Joyi, stated that this had opened their eyes to see and clearly understand what is needed from them when serving the community.

He said that this course was about leading, which is one of the things they are doing in their communities.

“We started it in 2020 but were forced to stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am glad to say that I will continue with my studies because this has opened my eyes and added more knowledge to my mind. I wish even other traditional leaders could take part and equip themselves because education increases your knowledge,” said Joyi.

According to him, the aim was to capacitate traditional leaders to develop community members.

Another Traditional Leader who furthered his studies in this institution, Chief Zwelanele Dengwane, said this was a great opportunity for them. He added that this opportunity had motivated him to continue with his studies, and he has registered with Damelin College, where he is doing a diploma in Public Management.

“Nowadays, ensuring you are equipping yourself with education is important. The world we live in is changing constantly, so it is important to ensure that we are not left behind, especially as Traditional Leaders. If you are still left behind, it means you are leading people with your eyes closed,” said Dengwane.
