The u/19A Gqeberha rugby heavyweights, Grey and Framesby, will be eager to return to their winning ways on Saturday.

Grey travels to Cape Town to take on Wynberg, and Framesby is at home against Oakdale.

These are tough assignments for both teams, after they suffered losses in away matches on Saturday.

Dale College shocked Grey, to win a thrilling encounter 32–25 in Qonce. Drostdy beat Framesby 22–5 in Worcester.

For Grey it is not going to get any easier against Wynberg who have been unbeaten this season, and are on a high after an impressive 30–27 victory over Paarl Boys’ High.

Framesby will be able to use their homeground advantage against Oakdale, to give the Riversdal visitors something to think about.

Grey started strongly against Dale and was in command for most of the first half. They built up a 12–0 lead but should have scored many more points with all the possession they had at that stage.

The heavy pack of Grey forwards put Dale under pressure at scrum time, and with effective driving mauls.

At half-time Grey were leading 12–8, but early in the second half were stunned by two quick tries by the home side. Dale had plenty of speed in their backline and when they created space to attack on the outside, Grey was found wanting on defence.

With about eight minutes to go the scores were level at 25–25. Two minutes before the final whistle, Dale scored a sensational long-distance try to seal the deal.

Looking at the final score in Worcester, it gives the impression Drostdy had it easy against Framesby. This wasn’t the case.

Drostdy was clearly the better team, but had to work hard against a side that kept on trying.

Framesby were just too impatient on attack, and made a lot of mistakes under pressure at crucial times. Drostdy, on the other hand, made full use of their scoring opportunities to teach the visitors some valuable lessons.

The highlight of the matches in Gqeberha was the performance of Pearson, playing at home against Stirling, from East London.

Pearson was under pressure to produce the goods on reunion weekend and didn’t let their supporters down.

It was an all-round good performance by the home side, to put Stirling away 48–0.

Led by prop Kian Rademeyer, Pearson scrummed strongly and had Stirling in trouble with their driving mauls.

The backs had the space to go and score tries with some enterprising moves. On defence the Pearson boys were just as good, and never gave the visitors a chance to get going.
