Zsports events SA and Cleary Estate Cheshire Homes jointly announce the opening of entries for this year’s Urban Discovery Run, a distinctive charity event set to take place on Sunday, August 20.

The Urban Discovery Run, a 5km fun run or walk, will start at 09:00 outside Remo’s Restaurant, with registration opening at 08:00. This event aims at encouraging fitness while exploring the oldest monuments in Gqeberha, and highlights the urban renewal projects being undertaken by the Mandela Bay Development Agency.

Steel Pipes & Fittings, the water table sponsor, supports the initiative, providing hydration for participants throughout the race. “We extend our gratitude to them for their generous backing, allowing us to focus on creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees,” says Michael Zoetmulder, the Zsports managing director.

The event is more than just a fun run. It’s an opportunity to give back, with proceeds going to Cheshire Homes, which is a non-profit organisation committed to providing shelter, support, and rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities.

The unique “Pay to Lead” system allows participants to donate to the charity for a head start in the race. The more you donate, the earlier you start, which could give you the edge in this friendly competition and claiming the prizes which are up for grabs.

Additionally, those with a competitive streak will be excited by the King of the Hill contest. The fastest man or woman to conquer the hill will win a cash prize of R1 000, adding an extra layer of exhilaration to the race.

The Urban Discovery Run brings together the community, historical awareness, fitness, and charity in an enjoyable and unique way. It’s a great day out for the whole family and a chance to support the local community.

Entries for the Urban Discovery Run are now open. Register for the event on the official website onwww.zsports.co.za.
