- The girl resisted and wrestled with the assailant when he tried to grab her iPad before fleeing the scene.
- He was later tracked down and positively identified by the victim.
Private security officers and members of the public, on Tuesday morning 14 November, chased down and apprehended a man who assaulted and robbed a schoolgirl on her way to write her matric exam.
The incident took place about 11:50 in York Street, Belmont Park in Kraaifontein.

“Titanium Securitas control centre received a panic signal from residents in York Street at midday," a spokesperson for Titanium Securitas Kobus Kotze related. "After making immediate contact with the client they informed them the suspect was sitting on top of the girl and hitting her head against the ground.”
He said the girl resisted her assailant when he tried to grab her iPad. In the struggle she fell to the ground where the man climbed on top of her wrestling the iPad off her.
“Armed response officers, along with the Crime Prevention Unit, immediately made their way to the location where the suspect, meanwhile, had fled with the victim's iPad. With the assistance of the public, Titanium officers tracked the suspect down minutes later. He was identified by the girl as her assailant.”

City of Cape Town Law Enforcement and Kraaifontein police arrived on the scene, the man was arrested and transported to Kraaifontein Police Station, where he is being detained until his court appearance.
“The girl was very traumatised, but escaped the attack with minor injuries,” said Kotze.
