The alleged murderers of a security guard that was killed on duty in KwaNobuhle on September 22, appeared in the KwaNobuhle Magistrates Court yesterday.
The accused, Thulani Tsana (20) and Phumezi Menze (34) allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Christopher George from Arcadia.
George and a colleague were busy escorting a bread truck in Gqabi Street when they were approached by a group of unknown men. One of the men started shooting at them and George was killed. He was also disarmed by one of the suspects.
The suspects were arrested by the Nelson Mandela Bay District Crime Combatting Unit in Humansdorp and KwaNobuhle, respectively. A third suspect (24) was also shot during the incident and passed away in hospital.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Gerda Swart, said that the accused appeared on charges of murder and the possession of suspected stolen property.
"The case was remanded in custody until September 29. Additional charges may be added as the investigation unfolds," Swart said.
