Few things can match the frustration that washes over us when the internet buffering symbol appears mid-Zoom presentation or mid-binge of our favourite show – especially at the climax of an episode. And after all, 2020 dealt us, our need for fast and uninterrupted internet has intensified tenfold.

Chinese tech giant Huawei has the answer to our internet woes: the HUAWEI Wi-Fi AX3 router series is primed for lightning-fast Wi-Fi 6 standards.

So… What exactly is Wi-Fi 6?

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is a new-generation Wi-Fi standard which is supported by orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), a 5G single-source technology, and comes with even faster connection and download speeds.

In fact, Wi-Fi 6 claims to be nearly three times faster than the speeds we’re familiar with from the already fast Wi-Fi 5. The reason for this has to do with the fact that Wi-Fi 5 supports a maximum bandwidth of 80 MHz, whereas Wi-Fi 6 supports a maximum bandwidth of 160 MHz — double the speed. This increase in bandwidth allows for a faster and smoother transmission of data across your network – lessening delays and buffering significantly.

Other benefits of Wi-Fi 6 & Huawei's new router series

In addition to the increased speed of Wi-Fi 6, other specs that set this AX3 series above its predecessors and competitors include:

  • 4 x larger capacity: OFDMA multi-user technology allows multiple devices to seamlessly connect to the router, without overwhelming it or greatly slowing its speed – this has improved the capacity to four times that of Wi-Fi 5.

  • 2/3 lower latency: thanks to the OFDMA multi-user technology – users are given a seamless connectivity experience with a faster response times, even when connected via multiple devices. This helps to reduce the latency.?

  • 30% lower power consumption: the on-demand wake-up functionality of devices reduces power consumption by 30%. Wi-Fi 6 communicates with multiple devices to activate on-demand wakeup, which saves power when the devices are not being used. Its predecessor, Wi-Fi 5 routers, can only communicate with one device at a time. This means it consumes battery power even when devices aren’t always in use.

Streaming has never been easier

With the quad-core CPU on Wi-Fi 6 stretching up to 3000 Mbps (that can boost speed to over 1 Gbps), HD movies can be delivered in a breezy 10 seconds! Additionally, since the HUAWEI WiFi AX3 supports 1024-QAM and 160 MHz ultra-large bandwidth, delivering a theoretical dual-band concurrent rate of up to 2976 Mbps (574 Mbps in 2.4 GHz plus 2401 Mbps in 5 GHz), downloading movies and shows to stream on your smartphone, laptop, or tablet are a dream.

Just a tap away

The perfect match for the AX3 Wi-Fi router is a device that can match it, Huawei has a range of smartphones and devices with Wi-Fi 6 capabilities to experience the full and seamless experience of the router.

However, you needn’t fret, as the AX3 router with Wi-Fi 6 Plus can smoothly send network access into every room of your home – even through walls – allowing a smooth browsing and streaming experience for all.

Huawei is kicking things up a notch for their customers with the quad-core version of the router. On this version, Huawei device users can connect to the network by merely tapping their device on the router base. The Huawei device will save the network password, allowing users to simply tap their device on the router using the Huawei Share feature on their devices for a quick connection.
