After a year unlike any other, we’re all looking to start 2021 feeling fresher, stronger, and better than 2020. Ready for a new year challenge that's good for you and good for the planet - join Veganuary.
More than a just catchy phrase ‘Veganuary’?
Founded back in 2014, the initiative has inspired and supported more than one million people across 192 countries to try vegan for January – and even beyond for some. The initiative is simple, it calls for people to opt for a vegan or plant-based diet during the year’s first month and refresh their system for the year ahead.
Why should I take the challenge?
Aside from helping to regulate your gut health, trying vegan, even if just for a month, is full of benefits, namely:
- It’s good for your overall physical health
A plant-based diet is already known for its benefits on gut health as its rich in nutrients that are good for detoxing your system, but recent studies have found that it can also regulate other elements of your physical health. These benefits also extend to lowering high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, strokes, and even Alzheimer’s.
Kickstarting 2021 with a fitness regime? Plant-based or vegan diets are chock-full of vitamins and nutrients, it helps to keep you energised for longer when training.
- It helps to reduce climate change in an easy way
Studies have found that plant agriculture releases less greenhouse gas emissions and requires less water consumption than animal agriculture, allowing you to decrease your carbon footprint with simply adjusting what you put on your plate.
- It’s so much more than some veggies on a plate
Trying vegan doesn’t mean a plate of plain veggies every meal. There are so many delicious and fun ways to get creative with plant-based dishes and plenty of online recipes to try from flavourful vegetable curries to pasta and then some. And for those who crave a burger, there are bean-based, soy, and other meat alternatives so you can still enjoy all your favourites this Veganuary.
