ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says he is unfazed by the formation of former president Jacob Zuma's uMkonto weSizwe Party ahead of the 29 May general election.
Speaking to supporters during a campaign in Cosmo City, Johannesburg, on Saturday, Ramaphosa said: "We have seen that with the UDM formation, with COPE and the EFF, but the ANC remains standing. It [the mushrooming of new political parties] has never weakened the ANC in terms of its overall support base.
"The people of this country continue to love the ANC. They have a love affair with the ANC that has sustained the ANC and the progress we have seen in this country over 30 years.
