"It was touch and go" when a father set out to save a little boy from being swept away by waves at the Mgwalana River Mouth, near Port Alfred, New Year's Day.
Clive Stoutjesdyk was watching his daughter Nina, 8, and her two friends, including 7-year-old Connor, play on their boogie boards in the sea.
Clive's wife, Cindy, told News24 that he had seen them drifting a bit too far out to sea, called them in, and then went in himself to help them get to shore quicker.
