The Portfolio Committee on Police has requested quarterly updates from the police on their investigations into attacks on Intercape buses.
This comes after the Eastern Cape High Court in Makhanda last week ordered police to investigate 165 cases of violence and intimidation reported by the long-haul bus company. Most of the incidents took place in the Eastern Cape.
The court ruled that the police had failed to meet their constitutional obligations to investigate and prevent crimes perpetrated against Intercape, its drivers and the travelling public.
