An acute shortage of medicines has gripped the public healthcare sector in Pixley ka Seme in the Northern Cape – and one hospital has been reported to be out of stock of at least 300 different medications.
De Aar Hospital was without some medication for as long as three months, an oversight inspection by the DA found last week.
A 50-year-old woman in Vanwyksvlei told News24 she was unable to get her usual medication to treat her blood pressure.
