Exams season is in full swing for many South African pupils and students, and the impact of technology on their ability to focus and succeed is a concern that calls for the need for a digital detox.

While technology's presence in our lives has brought about transformative changes, it also carries significant drawbacks, particularly as it pertains to the ability of learners to focus on academics.

This is why it is important to take a break from what US-based consultant, teacher and author Dr Brad Huddleston calls "digital cocaine".
