Ndoni Mcunu, the founder of Black Women in Science and an advocate for climate change, will be remembered during a memorial service on Friday.
Mcunu died at the age of 33 on Saturday, while at a lodge she and her friend were staying at in the Cradle of Humankind.

Family spokesperson and close friend Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster said Mcunu's family was devastated after receiving a call from the police informing them that she had died after a gas leak in the hotel they stayed in.
