With Mohamed Salah approaching the final 12 months of his contract at Liverpool, many expect him to leave the club in the next window. The latest on his future has now reportedly been revealed.

The 31-year-old has not been in the best of form since returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February, and the subsequent injury he sustained during his time in the Ivory Coast.

Since returning from international duty in west Africa, the prolific winger has scored only six goals for the Reds in all competitions.

This past weekend, he started from the bench for their 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

When preparing to come on in the second half, though, the attacker and Jurgen Klopp were seen engaging in a heated argument, adding further fuel to a possible exit for Salah from the club.

However, according to The Athletic, the Merseyside club does not expect their legendary goalscorer to go anywhere in the next window.

The same report claims that while Salah is approaching the final year of his existing deal at Anfield, the winger has not shown any indication that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season, and he could even sign a new deal with the Reds.

Interest in the Egyptian from the Saudi Pro League is believed to still exist, although it is not as intense as it was at the beginning of the season, when the team that wanted him, Al Ittihad, were keen to sign him so he could be at the forefront of their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

Public Investment Fund-owned sides are also said to believe that Salah wants to stay in Liverpool for at least one more season, at which point they could lure him on a free transfer.

Whether or not the two-time CAF Men's Player of the Year will extend his stay on Merseyside will be up to new club sporting director Richard Hughes, who will also have to sort out the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose current deals also expire next year.

It is said that these issues will be sorted once the appointment of new manager Arne Slot is finalised.
