Your afternoon might be unfolding slowly and you might be looking for a place to socialise in a relaxed setting this weekend.
Ideally, you might consider hitting a market where you will have access to food, good music, and a fun but calm vibe.
From Braamfontein’s The Playground where food meets art to Johannesburg CBD’s traditional market, Kwa Mai Mai, where you get African cuisine and braai meat. There are a variety of markets with your tribe.
But what makes these markets so popular and entertaining? We got in touch with the market assistant at the Rosebank Sunday Market, Qhubekani Moyo, to find out what are some of the key points that make a good market.
Founded in 2012 by Dana Druion, the Rosebank Sunday Market has been a place where approximately 200 traders come to make a living and consumers come to support the traders and have a good time.
From preloved clothing to artefacts to gourmet food, people have access to a variety of items to buy from hundreds of different traders. “I think people love to visit the Rosebank Sunday Market because it’s benefitting to many traders,” states Qhubekani.
“It accommodates even those with low income,” Qhubekani adds as he mentions that the items sold at the market are reasonably priced.
Qhubekani describes the market as safe and friendly to even children. He further states that its location is easily accessible to people from most parts of Johannesburg and has been a favourite for tourists as well.
With live music to car boot sales, Rosebank Sunday Market continues to come up with creative ways to maintain its loyal customers and bring in new supporters.
