A third Gavin Rajah copycat scandal?

accreditation

Another day, another Gavin Rajah scandal.

It has now come to light that there might be yet another copyright scandal brewing, this time involving unknowing participant, Morgan Deane. According to tweets now deleted by Deane, she asked Gavin Rajah to dress her for the annual horse-racing event, the L'Ormarins Queen's plate and ended up wearing a figure-hugging lace dress she believed to be a Rajah original.

It now seems that the dress is actually a Three Floor Fashion original.

Three Floor Fashion director Yvonne Hoang told DispatchLive that the dress was conceptualised by her team in 2013 and that Rajah was not authorised as a Three Floor stockist.

The ex-wife of former cricketer Graeme Smith, tweeted us recently thanking us for featuring her in our round-up of the fabulous fashion seen at the 2016 L'Ormarins Queens Plate.

Rajah quickly responded to her tweet asking Deane to note that the dress she wore was available from Gavin Rajah, but that it was in fact by UK brand, Three Floor:

Morgan, clearly not aware of this fact, tweeted back saying:

Deane was clearly under the impression that she was wearing a Rajah original, and told people as much online and, possibly, at the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate event.

The South African designer has become infamous for his copy scandals over the years. Last year, he ripped off the design of Han Chong, making an exact replica of the designer's original dress, only in another colour. Before that came his controversial Zuhair Murad "interpretation".

We have asked both Gavin Rajah and Morgan Deane which label appeared on the dress, they have yet to respond.
