Swimwear for every shape

accreditation

I know very few women who get really excited at the prospect of going swimsuit shopping.  Just the thought of trying on teeny bits of fabric and seeing yourself in the change room mirrors can send any girl running for the hills.

The key to making this process much easier is to go to stores that have a good selection, have a good idea of what you are looking for and don’t go on one of your 'fat' days.

To avoid having to try on 100 swimsuits, let me help you narrow it down to just a few.

Big bust:
You need to support your girls. Look for a wide shoulder and back strap with inner support and underwire. Avoid tiny straps and shapeless tops. Halter styles will work if they fit well.

Tiny bust:
You need to add detail to create an illusion of having more than you really do. Try styles with ruffles, rouging, gathers and underwire to give you a cleavage. If you have broad shoulders, wear halters, strapless or asymmetrical cuts to showcase them and take the focus off your little ones.

Big bum:
Skimpy style swimsuit bottoms will just feel uncomfortable and may reveal more that you desire.  Rather select a bottom that gives a little extra in the butt and hips for support. Make sure it fits well and doesn’t cut tightly across your cheeks giving you four bums instead of two. If you are smaller on top than the bottom, opt for a solid dark colour on the bottom and a colourful, printed or detailed top for balance.

Back fat:
Avoid thin straps that cut into your back and create folds. Rather opt for wide straps and high back styles to give you a smooth look.

Tummy:
Either wear a high waisted bikini bottom that ends just below your belly button to cut the tummy or opt for a full-piece with rouging, detail or print to disguise. Before you start groaning, thinking that full-piece suits are old fashioned, think again. There are some amazing styles out there. Just be open to them.

Short legs:
To make your legs look longer than they are, opt for high-cut bottoms that show off more leg. The more leg, the longer they look.

Love handles:
Avoid wearing a tight bikini bottom that cuts you just in the wrong spot, causing that muffin top effect. Either wear a higher cut bottom that ends above the fleshy bits or quite a bit lower, depending on your comfort level. Full-piece suits with a bit of rouging or print can also work well to disguise.
