And the winner is...
This year's Miss World pageant promises to be particularly exciting as it's to be held right here at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. An awesome showcase for our local designers, contestants are going to work the runway in gowns whipped up by the likes of Marianne Fassler, Gavin Rajah, Strangelove, Hip Hop and Julian. Hold thumbs for our home-grown lovely, Miss South Africa Tansey Coetzee, or, if you live in Jozi, go watch the show live on December 13. Tickets are still available at Computicket and start at R740,00. Visit www.computicket.co.za to snap yours up today!

A singer's bling
Having attended Johannesburg Fashion Week, SA singer Louise Carver was inspired to launch her own jewellery line, Jingle & Chimes. (The name is said to capture the musical sound jewellery makes when it moves against your body.) Consisting of a palate of white, pastel pink, blues and black, Louise's spring/summer range makes use of fresh water pearls, turquoise, aqua marine, rose quarts, white gold, Swarovski crystals, Labradorite and Onyx. The best bit? No two pieces within the collection are the same due to each stone's unique cut and colour, making Jingle & Chimes a great range for those who appreciate one of a kind, investment pieces that won't break the bank. If you're in Jozi, pop into Callaghan in Hyde Park or Lunar (44 Stanley avenue, Milpark) to take a look.

A little birdie told me...
Heard about Finch? It's a brand new bi-annual online magazine dedicated to exposing the work of young creatives studying or working in fields like fashion, photography, music and film. Their first edition is not to be missed and opens with a gorgeous fashion editorial called 'The Beautiful Ordinary' designed by Cape Town-based fashion student, Petro Nieuwoudt. (If her name rings a bell, that's because she won the Triumph Inspiration awards, a national underwear design competition, before going on to represent SA in Beijing earlier this year.) Check out Finch, Petro and a whole host of other artsy up-and-comers at www.finchmagazine.com.

Boxing clever
Ever envied the closets of celebs like Victoria Beckham or Denise Richards, what with all their shoes neatly displayed in clear, plastic boxes? If so, pay a visit to www.theclearboxsa.com and snap up your own! The site sells plastic boxes – clear and tinted – that are suitable for storing shoes, boots, hats and more. You're looking at paying R349,95 for a pack of five shoe boxes and R299,99 for a pack of two knee-length boot boxes. They charge R65 for delivery in Gauteng area and R85 within SA, but offer free delivery on orders over R2000. Happy shopping!

Blog o' the month
Kim Gray is a Cape Town-based freelance fashion stylist. She uses her blog, 'Kim Gray – Stylist', to fill you in on all her fab finds, new store openings and gives you the inside scoop on sales. You'll also enjoy reading her behind-the-scenes info regarding the many different media industry shoots that she styles. (For example, Kim recently helped Edgar's put together their 'fashion media day', where the store presents its key looks for winter 2009 to magazine editors and the like. Naturally, she snapped some piccies for her blog and, if you go take a peek, you'll get to see what's going to be in stores before everybody else!) Pay her a visit at www.kimgray.za.net.
