Local beauty house raises funds for cancer survivors

accreditation

Midrand, Tuesday January 20: Leading South African cosmetics company Avroy Shlain hashanded over R80 000 to cancer initiative, the 'Look Good, Feel Better' (LGFB) programme.

The money was raised thanks to Avroy Shlain donating R1 for every pink product sold from their October 2014 brochure, which is breast cancer awareness month in South Africa.

The LGFB programme, run under the auspices of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of South Africa (CTFA), helps women facing the trauma and stress of cancer by assisting them to overcome some of the distressing appearance related side effects of their treatment.

It is the cosmetic industries way of helping women cancer patients, undergoing active treatment, in a practical and positive manner.

Avroy Shlain is a founding member of LGFB. Managing director of Avroy Shlain Daisy Chin-Lor handed over the funds raised to Margaret Hewson from LGFB.

"Avroy Shlain Cosmetics is in the business of making women look and feel fabulous. That’s why we decided to dedicate the month of October 2014 to raising funds for LGFB.

In this small way we hope to empower women who are facing their own personal battle with cancer by helping to improve their self-image and taking their mind of the disease for a short time," says Chin-Lor.
