Let the earth swallow me now

We had a very giggly morning in the office today. Someone (I’m not going to say who, okay it was me!) complained rather wittily – at least I think it was witty – and very wearily about an acquaintance in an email. Obviously, I then proceeded to send said email directly to that person.

Why oh why haven’t they designed a “stop send” button yet?

Anyway, after running around in panicked circles for a bit, while yelling a few very unladylike words (with the entire teamlaughing their heads off, of course) I finally calmed down and prepared myself for the fallout. Nothing has happened yet, but I am not expecting a wedding invitation any time soon.

Predictably, this isn’t the first time I’ve done something like this. I once ran my mouth off about girls named after flowers. My friend Rose was in the conversation. Being the fabulous person she is, she let me go on for a few minutes before reminding me that her name was Rose. And then gently reminding me that my name is Lili.

I know.

Another friend had to go through the agony of phoning up a stranger and apologising for telling a mutual friend that her husband was having an affair. I blush just thinking about it.

Gadeeja once went on a date with a guy and took a friend with her. As the friend started going on about how much she hated rugby, Gadeeja kicked her under the table, seeing that the date was a keen player of the sport. Unfortunately, she kept on kicking him instead of her friend. The poor guy never said a word and the friend kept on talking about the subject all through dinner. It was only when the two ladies were in the car on the way home that they figured it out.

Whether it’s Facebook stalking gone wrong, tweeting publicly instead of Direct Messaging, sending an sms to the person you’re skinnering about or just talking about someone when they’re standing RIGHT BEHIND YOU, we want to know about it!

What was your most embarassing moment?
