Snap's classroom donation drive

Autism is a neurological disability and considered to be the fastest growing developmental disability in the world. If no intervention is received, autism has devastating effects on not only the child, but also the entire family.

The cost of intervening in the life of a child with special needs can amount to R120 000 per year.

SNAP Academy is a primary school for children with special needs who specialises in autism and learning disabilities. The organisation is appealing to everyone for help with their Grade 4 Classroom Donation Drive.

The children at the SNAP Academy who are currently in Grade 3 will graduate to Grade 4 at the end of this year, and require a Grade 4 classroom as well as an additional Multi-Grade classroom to facilitate those children who require a more practical curriculum.

SNAP is a non-profit organisation that does not receive any support from the government or the Department of Education for materials, infrastructure and equipment.

Their fundraising efforts throughout the year are mainly focused on sponsoring children who cannot afford intervention and therefore additional funding is required to expand their facilities.

In order for SNAP to continue the important work of providing these children with basic right to education and an independent future, they need the support of businesses and friends.

SNAP is asking for monetary or building material donations.

These donations include the structure, electricity and plumbing of the classroom, paint, an air conditioner, cupboards, carpets, a computer for the classroom, tables, chairs, magnetic board, chair bags, apparatus, books, blinds and a CD player.

SNAP is registered in terms of Section 18A of the Tax Income Act and any donation will receive a tax rebate certificate.
