I would have him talk all night about what made his characters in the Discworld series tick, what made him tick and how on earth he was able to think up such an amazing series.
Another reason would have been his struggle with Alzheimers and his stance on assisted suicide. - Tanya-Lee
Nora Roberts, would be on my right. I LOVE her books and the skill she portrays, when skipping between the Nora Roberts style and that of JD Robb. The question I’d ask her is: “How do you keep it going after having hundreds of best sellers?”
Karin Slaughter would be on my left, because of the realism she employs, which can be scary at times and very gritty. And her books are causing my shelves to groan and creak.
Both of these authors make my bank manager go into spasms, when I max out my overdraft, after a book run. Books to me is like a religion – please do not try to fob a reader off to me, it is just not the same.
Although technology takes away the so-called inconvenience of schlepping books around – I still prefer having that weight in my handbag, saying – ‘hey babe, read me!’ - Martha
James Patterson, because I absolutely love his books and he has a distinct writing style. - Christina
I've always loved the idea of having dinner with Nick Hornby. He strikes me as the type of man who could somehow magically increase your IQ as well as your EQ (emotional intelligence) just by having a conversation with you.
I think it would be easy to have dinner with him. No awkwardness, just a glass of wine, some good food and a great conversation. - Nadine
I would actually love to have dinner with Karin Slaughter – she is my favourite author and despite the grim topics she writes about, she has a marvellous (kinda dark) sense of humour that is right up my alley.
I have just started reading Cop Town and cannot wait to get my hands on Pretty Girls. - Christie-Anne
I would love to have dinner with South African author Melissa Delport as she stays in my area. I'm interested to hear in detail how she started on her writing career and where she gets her inspiration for her stories. - Nicola
I'd love to have dinner with Karin Slaughter, as from one Karin to another I would enjoy the opportunity to find out how an author goes about plotting a crime. It would be exciting, as I enjoy watching the CSI channel and I am fascinated by the fact that no murder is a perfect murder. - Karin
